The Role
As an
Enterprise Data Architect
, you will own the end‑to‑end data architecture across diverse platform ecosystems, spanning both on‑premises and cloud environments. You will translate business objectives into robust data designs and guide engineering teams to deliver secure, governed, scalable, and high‑quality data products. This role requires both architectural leadership and hands‑on expertise across multiple modern data technologies.
Your responsibilities:
- Partner with business, product, and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models (Data Vault 2.0, Kimball, modern dimensional modelling).
- Design and maintain data platform blueprints covering ingestion, curation, serving, and consumption layers; ensure architecture artefacts remain current (ArchiMate/Confluence).
- Define data integration patterns (batch and streaming) and establish canonical data contracts; set standards for APIs, event models, and semantic layers.
- Drive data governance and observability practices, including cataloguing, lineage, data quality rules, and SLA/SLO definitions using tools such as Collibra or Microsoft Purview.
- Embed controls for privacy, security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR).
- Provide architectural oversight across delivery teams, conducting design reviews and coaching engineers on performance, reliability, and cost optimisation.
- Align architectural outputs with TOGAF/ArchiMate methodologies and Agile delivery processes; steward the architecture runway and drive incremental value delivery.
- Contribute reusable reference architectures and accelerators for BFSI use cases such as Customer 360, finance reporting, and regulatory data packs.
- (Desirable) Contribute expertise in Hadoop-based architectures and on-premises technologies such as Oracle Exadata, Teradata, SAP HANA, or Netezza.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience
- Strong hands‑on experience in data engineering and data architecture, including proficiency as a Data Architect.
- Strong data modelling expertise across conceptual, logical, and physical layers.
- Proficiency in SQL performance tuning and ETL/ELT solution design.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex architectural designs to senior stakeholders and lead design forums.
- Knowledge of Data Mesh, Data Fabric, or Data Product architectures.
- Hands‑on experience with at least one ETL/ELT technology: Informatica, DBT, AWS Glue, Talend, or Azure Data Factory, and streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Experience working across at least two modern warehousing platforms: Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle, etc.
- Proven experience with data cataloguing, lineage, and data quality tooling (Collibra, Purview, Great Expectations, dbt tests).
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data quality frameworks, and lineage implementation.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance) domain exposure — risk, finance, customer analytics, regulatory reporting.
- AI / GenAI use cases applied within data engineering.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, Bicep).
- Professional certifications such as TOGAF or AWS/Azure/GCP Solution Architect.
