The Role
As a Senior Full Stack Architect , you will lead the technical architecture and implementation of complex, mission‑critical software systems within a highly regulated financial services environment. You will play a key role in a multi‑year digital transformation programme, shaping engineering excellence and supporting cultural and technological change across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
• Own end-to-end technical architecture across frontend, backend, APIs, data layers and system integrations.
• Define reference architectures, technology standards and design principles balancing scalability, performance, security and cost.
• Drive long-term architectural decisions aligned with business growth and future extensibility.
• Lead architectural reviews and contribute to technology governance frameworks.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of SDLC practices within enterprise environments.
• Apply polyglot programming skills and adapt quickly to evolving technologies and frameworks.
• Champion engineering best practices including automated testing, GitOps and CI/CD.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, performance tuning and promote knowledge sharing.
• Design cloud‑native solutions using Docker, Kubernetes and service mesh architectures such as Istio.
• Architect CI/CD and Infrastructure‑as‑Code solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation or similar tools.
• Implement observability frameworks including monitoring, logging and alerting.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery and cost‑effective architectural design.
• Coach engineering teams to adopt architectural standards and identify anti‑patterns.
• Support delivery using Agile methodologies including SCRUM and Kanban.
• Foster a culture of innovation, transparency and continuous improvement.
• Manage senior stakeholder relationships and communicate architectural progress effectively.
• Apply frontend expertise in React, TypeScript, Material UI and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Define state management patterns including Redux, Context API or similar.
• Use Node.js and Python to design backend services, APIs and microservices.
• Develop RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints and event‑driven systems using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis to design scalable, high‑performance data models.
• Define caching strategies and ensure understanding of ACID and eventual consistency principles.
• Architect solutions on AWS, Azure or GCP with deep experience in at least one platform.
• Build and operate container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure‑as‑Code solutions.
• Use monitoring tools such as Datadog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus or Grafana.
• Apply secure coding and architecture principles including OAuth, JWT and SAML.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements across financial services environments.
Your Profile
Essential skills / knowledge / experience
• Experience in critical software development roles with measurable business impact.
• Experience in senior architecture or technical leadership positions.
• Extensive experience with Agile delivery (SCRUM/Kanban).
• Strong track record of delivering scalable solutions in regulated industries.
• Experience operating within global, matrixed organisations.
• Exceptional analytical and debugging skills across the full technology stack.
• Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, virtualisation and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
Desirable skills / knowledge / experience
• Cloud architecture certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect.
• Experience in financial services regulatory environments.
• Exposure to service mesh architectures, event‑driven systems and distributed design patterns.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and secure development standards.
