Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Application Engineer with strong expertise in energy metering technologies, including developing metrology (single & three phase) , DLMS/COSEM protocol, and energy meter hardware architecture.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related fields. Master’s degree is a plus.
Key Skill Set
Strong Understanding of Electrical Measurement Principles:
Fundamentals of AC power measurement (single‑phase & three‑phase)
RMS calculations for voltage, current, power & energy
Concepts of active, reactive, apparent power
Power factor measurement (displacement & distortion PF)
CT/PT interfacing, burden selection, linearity, and phase‑angle correction
Anti‑tamper metering concepts (neutral disturbance, magnetic tamper, bypass detection)
Expertise in Metrology Algorithms
Implementation of sampling, digital filtering, and signal conditioning
Frequency tracking & phase‑locked loop (PLL) algorithms
Compensation techniques for:
Gain & offset errors
Phase angle errors
Temperature drift
Energy calculation algorithms (block processing, time‑division sampling, etc.)
Low‑signal detection, creep handling, and start‑up threshold logic
ADC & Sensor Interface Knowledge
Experience with Σ‑Δ (Sigma‑Delta) ADCs, multi‑channel high‑resolution converters
Noise isolation, grounding, and analog front‑end design
DLMS/COSEM Knowledge (for Smart Meters)
While metrology is separate from DLMS, a metrology engineer should understand how measured parameters map to communication standards:
OBIS code mapping for power & energy registers
COSEM interface objects related to billing, load profiles, events
Security suites (Suite 0 / Suite 1 / Suite 2)
Interoperability testing with HES/MDM
DLMS data structures for profile capture & metering blocks
Calibration & Accuracy Testing
Hands‑on experience with meter test benches (ZERA, Radian, Secure, L&T)
Multi‑point calibration techniques:
Voltage, current, phase angle, power factor
Accuracy standards:
IS 16444 (Smart Meters)
IS 15959 (DLMS)
IEC 62053‑21/22/23
Endurance, creep, tamper, harmonic, and influence quantity testing
