About This Role Managing Director, Head of Hosting Infrastructure Services Engineering Head of Aladdin Platform Engineering Infrastructure Services Responsible for managing the infrastructure layer for BlackRock and Aladdin across Public and Private Cloud and Colo Sites. Responsibilities include the Compute platform (across Unix(/Linux), Windows, Virtualization, Kubernetes), Cloud infrastructure (Terraform based resource and environment/services management) across Azure, AWS, GCP and OCI and the Storage infrastructure (e.g. NetApp / NetApp CVO, Block storage, etc.), across public and private clouds. The role is responsible for engineering and operations across these technologies inclusive of all the cost management aspects (infrastructure/staffing). Operates in partnership with the Hosting core platform (App Hosting, Networking, Database functions and Cloud managed PaaS services) enabling the Aladdin core platform as well as services for Enterprise BlackRock. Additionally responsible for the global hosting strategy for core infrastructure services including enabling the AI infrastructure.

The Platform Engineering Team is a critical function as part of the Aladdin Engineering organization and is responsible for designing, delivering, and operating an open, resilient, cost-efficient and scalable technology platform that empowers innovation in the Aladdin ecosystem. This team is a foundational part of protecting our estate and driving new revenue and scale channels for our clients and BlackRock.

As a highly skilled and experienced technical and enterprise leader for Hosting Services in the Platforms team you will contribute as a relentless driving force behind the transformation of our organization and empowerment of the developer community within and beyond the walls of BlackRock. This means that the successful candidate will have a critical seat in accelerating Aladdin and BlackRock for the next 30 years. Key Responsibilities

• Design, transform and lead the Foundational Infrastructure organization, which is responsible for engineering and operations across core aspects of the Aladdin technology stack

• Provide strategic leadership to build a high-performance Engineering team. You will grow technology leaders and connect the team to our mission and outcomes. You will nurture engineering culture and ultimately drive execution.
• Lead an engineering organization of the future that both looks and works differently, sponsoring the application of AI/ML techniques and generative AI tools to real-world use cases across the Aladdin Platform Engineering technology stack
• Drive evolution of organization towards product-oriented operating model in lock step with the broader Platform Engineering organization’s mission to deliver the engineering building blocks that power the world's leading investment management platform.
• Work in partnership with our product managers, users/client base and engineering teams to implement a product and technical roadmap.
• Grow your technical knowledge and leadership skills to become one of the most productive technology teams at BlackRock; be an inspiring leader across the entire engineering organization to evangelize leading engineering practices and tooling
• Work closely with business leaders, product managers, domain architects, and project teams to understand business requirements and translate them into architectural solutions.
• Join your fellow Platform Engineering team global leaders in defining, refining, and optimizing our footprint to meet the growth demands of our clients and partners.
• Lead our talent acquisition, growth, and retention outcomes for the organization.
• Own and mitigate technology risks and represent Platform Engineering in risk and control governance outcomes.

Desired Qualifications

• 15+ years of combined enterprise leadership and technical experience in Financial Services or Technology running a globally diverse engineering team.
• Proven track record of accomplishment and successful navigation in large, complex organizations, specifically, successful deliveries of technology focused products through the entire product development lifecycle
• Superb engineering leadership experience across complex/cross functional initiatives – the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, adapt to change and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and technical skills, with working knowledge of cutting-edge engineering applications, software development methodologies and product technologies
• Experience running Agile teams with a proven passion to improve yourself and your squads, with results to evidence.
• Strong intellectual ability and stakeholder management skills evidenced by being able to establish his/her credibility and influence with senior leaders throughout the firm.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic business environment and continually reprioritize to focus on the key issues/topics.
• Outstanding interpersonal characteristics, reputation, and team orientation, which will enable her/him to earn confidence, loyalty, and respect of colleagues, as well as be a dynamic enterprise contributor as part of the Platform Engineering Leadership team.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$275,000.00 - USD$350,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
