We are seeking an accomplished Product Manager with deep expertise in backend infrastructure technologies for SaaS and PaaS platforms hosted on multi-Cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have experience productizing and scaling cloud-native infrastructure services — spanning storage, database technologies, and event and messaging systems — and offering them as abstracted, managed capabilities to internal platform consumers. This leader excels at balancing the tradeoffs inherent to enterprise infrastructure: performance, cost, security, scalability, reliability, and compliance, and brings a strong track record of treating infrastructure as a first-class product with well-defined service contracts, SLAs, and consumption models.
Key Responsibilities
Define and drive an integrated product vision and strategy for Shared Infrastructure Services, encompassing storage, database technologies, and event and messaging infrastructure offered as abstracted, managed services to internal platform consumers including Core Platform Services teams.
Create detailed business and product requirements, define outcomes and initiatives, and provide engineering teams with the clarity needed to deliver against organizational goals.
Own and maintain a prioritized roadmap with measurable success criteria that aligns platform strategy, internal consumer needs, and stakeholder requirements across the managed infrastructure portfolio.
Partner with Architecture to design, evaluate, and optimize storage architectures on hyperscalers, covering block, file, and object storage, data lifecycle management, backup and recovery, and platform-aligned connectivity patterns.
Define the product strategy for database technologies such as relational, NoSQL, caching, time-series, and graph — standardizing how these are provisioned, operated, and consumed as managed services by internal teams.
Define the product strategy for event streaming, pub/sub, and message queue infrastructure, offering these as managed, abstracted services focused on reliability, throughput, durability, and operational simplicity for consumers, distinct from event schema design or domain processing logic owned by consuming teams.
Champion service abstraction and internal developer experience by defining service interfaces, consumption models, and self-service provisioning patterns that allow Core Platform services teams to adopt shared infrastructure without deep operational expertise.
Identify and articulate architectural tradeoffs — latency vs. durability, cost vs. availability, compliance vs. flexibility — and guide cross-functional teams in making well-informed decisions.
Develop and refine platform strategies for resource placement, multi-region topology, data sovereignty, and global performance optimization across the managed infrastructure portfolio aligned with Core Platform Services and business requirement.
Define HA and DR strategy across the portfolio in consideration of immutability requirements, RPO and RTO targets, and consumer SLAs.
Partner with Engineering and DevOps to implement release and rollout strategies that ensure secure, stable, and non-disruptive delivery of infrastructure services to internal consumers.
Establish and govern SLAs, reliability targets, and incident management practices across the managed infrastructure portfolio.
Model and manage infrastructure costs across the portfolio, focusing on capacity planning, resource utilization, licensing, and data transfer charges and their impact on platform unit economics.
Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, DevOps, security, and peer product teams — including Core Platform Services PMs — to ensure Shared Infrastructure Services meet consumer needs and are well-integrated into broader platform workflows.
Lead vendor relationship management and contract negotiations for infrastructure technologies, cloud services, and tooling, evaluating capabilities, licensing models, and feature roadmaps to ensure best-in-class positioning at sustainable economics.
Monitor and integrate industry best practices for Shared Infrastructure Services in hyperscaler environments, staying current on emerging technologies and evolving platform needs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
12–15 years of product management experience, with at least 10 years focused on SaaS or PaaS enterprise platforms with significant infrastructure or platform services scope.
Proven expertise across multiple backend infrastructure domains, including storage, database technologies, and messaging or event streaming systems.
Demonstrated track record of productizing and operating shared infrastructure services at scale in cloud-native, multi-tenant environments.
Experience evaluating build vs. buy decisions, vendor and technology selection, and infrastructure standardization in large-scale platform contexts.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders from engineers to executives.
Track record of leading cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle, from ideation and requirements through launch and ongoing optimization.
Preferred Skills
Hands-on familiarity with hyperscaler managed services across storage, database, and messaging domains.
Experience evaluating and standardizing database technologies — relational, NoSQL, caching, and time-series such as AWS RDS, S3, MongoDB, Document DB — in multi-tenant platform contexts.
Exposure to event streaming and messaging platforms such as Pulsar, Kafka, AWS EventBridge, Google Pub/Sub, Azure Service Bus, or equivalent.
Knowledge of multi-region and multi-cloud infrastructure architectures and their implications for performance, resilience, and compliance.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, DevOps and CI/CD practices, and cloud security best practices.
Understanding of data sovereignty, privacy, and regulatory requirements as they relate to cloud infrastructure design
