You have dedicated years to mastering structured literacy. When a student makes a miscue, you immediately identify the specific phonemic gap that needs attention. Yet you have also witnessed how traditional systems squander that expertise: classrooms with 25 or more students, inflexible pacing guides, standardized curricula that disregard what your running records reveal. If you have ever believed "I could double these students' progress if I could teach according to what the data indicates," continue reading.
Alpha School's 2-Hour Learning model integrates AI-adaptive software with skilled human instruction. Students work through academic coursework independently via personalized applications. Lectures, textbooks, and pacing guides do not exist. Your role focuses on the area where human expertise cannot be replaced: small-group reading workshops in which you create and deliver structured literacy instruction matched to each student's phonics and decoding level. Real-time AI-generated performance data informs your session planning, allows for immediate adjustments, and enables you to track outcomes through fluency gains, accuracy improvements, and decoding progression.
In addition to reading workshops, you will facilitate motivation sessions that maintain K-2 student engagement with their learning objectives. You will serve as their coach, their advocate, the individual who knows their name, their interests, and precisely where they stand in their reading development. The objective: 100% of students achieve their weekly goals, and 90%+ rate their Guide as someone they genuinely enjoy learning with. This role emphasizes measurable results you can observe and track every week, not curriculum coverage. As Alpha opens additional campuses, the instructional model you develop here will serve as the blueprint for reading instruction across the nation.
If you believe structured literacy achieves its greatest impact when personalized, driven by data, and taught by someone who authentically energizes a classroom of six-year-olds, this is the role where that conviction becomes your daily work. Apply today.
