Production Engineer

Production Engineer – Production Ops & AI Tooling The Production Engineer (PE) at ThoughtSpot is a hybrid role combining deep production engineering expertise with hands-on production operations (ProdOps) and AI-driven tool development. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence in production environments, accelerating issue resolution, and proactively improving supportability through automation and AI-powered solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary engineering liaison for SREs and ProdOps, providing expert knowledge of product architecture, production workflows, and operational best practices.
• Develop, implement, and maintain AI-powered tools and automation to streamline ProdOps processes, reduce manual intervention, and improve system reliability.
• Analyze recurring production issues, identify patterns, and build AI/ML-based solutions or scripts to proactively detect, triage, and resolve incidents.
• Own initial triage of customer-found defects, ensuring all necessary information is collected before escalating to the appropriate engineering team, and often resolving or providing workarounds directly.
• Collaborate with SREs, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure robust, production-ready solutions and best practices are adopted across the organization.
• Maintain and enhance knowledge bases, SOPs, and documentation for recurring issues, workflows, and AI/automation tools.
• Participate in exit reviews for product epics to ensure feature and documentation quality, with a focus on operational readiness and coverage of automation.
• Reduce Mean Time To Resolution (MTTR) for production issues by leveraging automation, AI, and streamlined workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong background in production engineering, production operations, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven experience developing and deploying automation and AI/ML tools for ProdOps use cases (e.g., anomaly detection, automated triage, self-healing scripts).
• Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience in support engineering, SRE, or a similar liaison role is preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud architectures, analytics platforms, and modern AI/ML frameworks is a plus.
