Do you believe meaningful learning begins with trust, joy, and freedom of movement?
Alpha School is redefining early education by enabling children to advance academically at pace while dedicating greater time to developing essential life competencies. In Pre-K, that foundation begins even earlier: with emotional security, curiosity, and the resilience to persist.
Your role: guide an in-person Pre-K group in NYC that enjoys coming to school while demonstrating rapid early-learning gains—approximately 2x the rate seen in conventional preschool environments. You will create purposeful, sensory-engaged play experiences aligned to developmental benchmarks, then track progress weekly and iterate quickly for every child.
New York City offers: green spaces for experiential outdoor education, vibrant neighborhoods with engaged family networks, a world-class transit system, and proximity to leading early childhood innovation hubs.
Foster joy. Drive measurable growth. Submit your application today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Plan and lead 30–60 minute play-centered learning sessions that cultivate joy, emotional security, and trackable developmental progress
- Build a classroom environment rich in movement and sensory input that sustains engagement and supports multi-modal learning for four-year-olds
- Observe and record in the moment: Document objective, same-day observations linked to developmental domains, then refresh each child's milestone tracker every week
- Let data inform your teaching: Review weekly documentation to pinpoint each child's next developmental step and design responsive instructional actions
- Create personalized, interest-driven activity modifications for individual children, integrate one focused developmental objective, and reassess outcomes within a two-week window
- Support children through moments of frustration by modeling calm co-regulation and applying emotional coaching instead of reactive behavior management
- Share updates on student progress, daily routines, and developing concerns transparently and promptly with families
What You Won’t Be Doing
- View Pre-K as custodial childcare instead of purposeful early learning
- Default to scripted worksheets or compliance-focused instruction as your primary method
- Spend the majority of your time supervising academic software rather than facilitating live, tactile learning experiences
- Apply reactive behavior management techniques instead of practicing calm co-regulation and emotional coaching
