Overview
We are seeking a full-time
Incoming Inspector 2
in our Miramar, FL location. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and inspecting incoming materials to ensure the conformance of parts and sub-assemblies that support our consumer business.
Essential Functions
Conduct dimensional, visual, and electrical validations on parts, assemblies, and finished product to the Garmin specification and inspection guidelines using calibrated inspection devices and tools (includes electrical components, mechanical hardware and purchased sub-assemblies)
Use Garmin systems to generate accurate quality and inventory records
Demonstrate basic proficiency in using standard inspection tools, equipment, and CMM along with best practice inspection methods
Identify non-conforming material and initiate reports to ensure proper material review and disposition
Work with senior team members to identify and escalate undesirable or inaccurate parameter measurements
Mentor level 1 associates on Garmin documentation, requirements and inspection techniques and any new or revised procedures and methods.
Manage priorities based on inputs from Production, Purchasing and other available inspection resources
Analyze Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) to determine effect on inspection activities
Identify opportunities for improving inspection efficiencies; work with Engineering and Operations personnel for implementing improved inspection methods
Apply Lean principles to continuously improve workflows to enhance customer satisfaction and maintain and improve 5S compliance in the inspection areas
Demonstrate high degree of dexterity and hand-eye coordination with ability to manipulate and handle small and delicate parts, fixtures and test equipment
Possess visual acuity to distinguish colors (Red-Green-Blue) and shades of gray, to allow differentiation of colors and textures in materials
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED AND a minimum of 3 years electronic assembly or electronic system test/repair, to provide knowledge of component function, style, and handling precautions
Demonstrated mechanical inspection experience using calipers, micrometers, gages and CMM
Ability to apply processes and methods to verify conformance of parts and sub-assemblies
Ability to inspect materials to the Garmin specification and inspection plans using calibrated inspection devices and tools
Demonstrated high degree of dexterity and hand-eye coordination with ability to manipulate and handle small and delicate parts, fixtures and test equipment
Possess visual acuity to distinguish colors (Red-Green-Blue) and shades of gray, to allow differentiation of colors and textures in materials
Demonstrated proficiency with math and measurement skills with the ability to convert English/Metric units of measure and calculate tolerance limits
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques
Desired Qualifications
1+ years higher education in Associate or Vocational program in computer science, electronics, industrial science, or quality systems
