Role Purpose :
As a member of the Digital Architecture leadership team, the Architecture Director, Corporate is accountable for setting and governing the architectural direction for Corporate Systems landscape, enabling the effective operation, control and transformation of internal functions.
This is a senior director‑level role responsible for shaping the long‑term architecture that underpins Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, Risk and Corporate IT services. The role ensures that corporate platforms and processes are resilient, compliant, cost‑effective and aligned to strategic priorities, while enabling simplification, automation and improved colleague experience.
The role spans complex, enterprise‑wide systems delivered through a mix of SAP platforms, specialist COTS solutions and Microsoft technologies, operating across hybrid on‑premise and cloud environments, and in close partnership with strategic system integrators and vendors.
As a member of the wider Digital Senior Management Team, the role demands exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at scale and operate credibly at executive level.
Responsibilities:
Leads Architecture for Corporate Systems domain, covering enterprise platforms and services that support Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, Risk and Internal IT. The scope includes, but is not limited to:
- Enterprise Resource Planning and core corporate platforms, including SAP Finance, SAP Supply Chain and SAP HR / SuccessFactors
- Financial management, accounting, tax, treasury and statutory reporting systems
- Supply chain, procurement, sourcing and vendor management platforms
- HR, workforce management, talent, payroll and colleague lifecycle systems
- Employee experience, collaboration and digital workplace capabilities, including productivity, communication and knowledge‑sharing platforms
- End‑user computing and device capabilities, including identity, access, endpoint management and secure device enablement
- Integration, data, reporting and analytics services supporting corporate functions
Strategic Direction & Emerging Technology
- Set and communicate the architectural vision and 1–3 year technology direction for Corporate Systems, aligned to strategy, regulatory obligations and operational priorities.
- Define and evolve the long‑term platform strategy for Corporate Systems, including the role and roadmap for SAP‑centric estates and supporting platforms.
- Shape the architectural contribution to major corporate investment decisions, business cases and transformation programmes.
- Lead technology lifecycle management (invest, modernize, consolidate, retire) to drive simplification, cost efficiency and risk reduction.
- Identify opportunities for automation, AI and data‑driven decision‑making across corporate and internal functions.
- Define and evolve the enterprise employee experience and digital workplace architecture, ensuring collaboration, productivity and device strategies are secure, scalable and aligned to operating model.
Enterprise Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Act as the senior architectural authority for Corporate Systems, with deep accountability for SAP‑centric architectures across Finance, Supply Chain and HR.
- Define and govern target‑state architectures, principles and standards for corporate platforms, ensuring consistency, reuse and alignment .
- Provide architectural leadership for SAP S/4HANA, SAP Supply Chain solutions and SAP SuccessFactors, including integration patterns, data models and extensibility approaches.
- Provide architectural leadership across the digital workplace and collaboration landscape, including Microsoft 365 services, identity and access, and integration with core corporate platforms.
- Define and govern architecture for end‑user computing and device platforms, ensuring secure, consistent and supportable colleague experiences.
- Ensure corporate system architectures are scalable, secure, resilient and compliant while enabling agility and continuous improvement.
- Translate business, operational and regulatory requirements into coherent architecture roadmaps and solution designs.
Business Leadership, Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Operate as a trusted partner to senior leaders in Finance, People & Culture, Procurement, Legal, Risk and Corporate IT, shaping strategy and enabling transformation through architecture.
- Build strong relationships with Group Finance and People & Culture leadership to ensure shared ownership of outcomes.
- Lead strategic engagement with system integrators and software vendors (including SAP partners), influencing roadmaps, delivery models and commercial outcomes.
- Represent Corporate Architecture in cross governance, portfolio and investment forums, sharing accountability for direction setting and prioritization.
- Partner closely with Corporate IT and Security leaders to ensure corporate platforms and employee-facing technologies evolve coherently, securely and in line with regulatory and operational requirements.
People, Capability & Culture Development
- Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing Architecture organization, setting clear expectations and sustaining a culture of excellence, learning and accountability.
- Build and maintain deep capability across SAP, corporate platforms, digital workplace and end-user computing technologies within the architecture community.
- Establish and run centers of excellence and communities of practice for SAP and corporate platforms.
- Coach and develop senior architects, enabling them to operate credibly with executive stakeholders and lead complex initiatives.
- Ensure succession planning and capability depth aligned to future corporate transformation needs.
Risk, Governance & Decision Assurance
- Own architectural governance for Corporate Systems, including decision rights, standards, design assurance and architectural risk management.
- Ensure corporate architectures meet regulatory, audit, security and compliance requirements across financial and people systems.
- Provide architectural assurance to major corporate programmers and initiatives, balancing pace, cost, risk and long-term sustainability.
- Take accountability for key architectural decisions, including platform selection, vendor strategy and major design trade-offs.
- Ensure governance enables innovation while maintaining strong control, using clear guardrails and pragmatic escalation paths.

- Significant experience operating at senior architectural or technology leadership level within large, complex enterprises.
- Deep hands-on experience with SAP platforms, including SAP Finance, SAP Supply Chain and SAP HR / SuccessFactors.
- Experience leading or governing large-scale SAP programmes or enterprise transformations.
- Proven ability to shape enterprise-wide corporate platform strategies and multi-year roadmaps.
- Experience shaping or governing digital workplace and end-user computing platforms alongside core ERP systems.
- Strong track record working with Finance, HR and Supply Chain leaders in regulated environments.
- Experience operating in product‑led environments, including the introduction of new digital capabilities, platforms, or business models at scale.
- Experience leading architectural change in complex environments, including legacy modernization and transition to composable, data‑centric, API‑driven landscapes.
- Experience building, leading, and developing distributed, diverse teams, and creating architecture roadmaps aligned to business strategy, customer outcomes, and financial objectives.
