You're joining a validated learning model already producing measurable results at Alpha School. LearnWithAI powers the platform underneath, scaling rapidly across the US and internationally. Students complete their core academic work in two hours daily and score in the nation's top percentiles. The system is effective. What it requires now is someone who prioritizes the people using it.
You'll establish design excellence, create the standards, and develop the function. Your territory includes our learning platform and its related learning applications, serving multiple audiences within Alpha and beyond.
A five-year-old who hasn't learned to read yet encounters a system teaching them to count—one that must make discovery feel effortless. A teenager performing two grades below level is regaining confidence after repeated academic setbacks, where a single unclear interaction could reverse their progress. A parent gains visibility into their child's actual learning process. That transparency reduces stress and enables them to support more effectively. An academic coach overseeing a multi-age classroom must track development without information overload. You must understand each group thoroughly enough to design truly distinct solutions for each.
Your responsibility is the experience layer: conduct substantial research into each audience, translate findings into actionable design principles engineers can implement directly, and deliver code-ready outputs that function immediately—not static deliverables that stall in feedback cycles. You collaborate with product leaders accountable for results and engineers responsible for shipping. You challenge requests that compromise user experience. You control the full cycle.
You'll employ AI to accelerate iteration and expand your capacity, but your judgment—not automated suggestions—determines what gets released. Primary focus remains our education platform, with periodic work in adjacent areas.

Working with us This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
