You've dedicated years to becoming an expert in structured literacy. You can identify a student's miscue and immediately pinpoint the phonemic skill that needs reinforcement. Yet you've also seen how the system squanders that expertise: classrooms of 25+ students, inflexible pacing guides, standardized curricula that disregard what your running records reveal. If you've thought "I could accelerate these students' progress dramatically if I could just teach according to the data," this role is for you.
Alpha School's 2-Hour Learning model integrates AI-adaptive software with skilled human teaching. Students work through academic content independently using personalized applications. There are no lectures, no textbooks, no pacing guides. Your responsibility centers on the one area where human expertise cannot be replaced: small-group reading workshops where you create and implement structured literacy instruction customized to each student's phonics and decoding abilities. You'll leverage real-time AI-generated performance data to design each session, modify instruction as needed, and track outcomes through fluency gains, accuracy improvements, and decoding progress.
In addition to reading workshops, you'll facilitate motivation sessions that maintain K-2 student engagement with their learning objectives. You'll serve as their coach, their motivator, the individual who understands their name, their passions, and precisely where they stand in their reading development. The goal: 100% of students achieve their weekly objectives, and 90%+ rate their Guide as someone they enjoy working with. This isn't about curriculum coverage; it's about measurable results you can observe and track each week. As Alpha grows to additional campuses, the systems you develop here will establish the standard for reading instruction across the network.
If you believe structured literacy achieves optimal results when it's personalized, data-informed, and taught by someone who authentically energizes a room of six-year-olds, this is the opportunity to put that conviction into practice. Apply today.
