Beyond this, Industrial Engineers are responsible for measuring and managing resource allocations to meet business objectives as efficiently as possible.
Gigafactory Texas has an opportunity for a highly motivated Industrial Engineer. The ideal candidate will have technical competency in work measurement, linear programming, discrete event simulation and other operation research methods. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be proficient in bottleneck analysis, labor planning, material flow analysis, space planning, and program management.
What You'll Do
Support new/sustaining production line requirements, including layout management, space allocation and material flow optimization
Conduct work measurement, utilization analysis and line balancing for both new products and stable production
Manage the production takt time. Responsible for the development and maintenance of standard LHU (Labor Hours per Unit), the establishment of guidelines for headcount reduction of the implementation of the continuous improvement workshop
Lead continuous improvement activities (5S, 6 Sigma, SMED, CI, Standardization, VSM) to optimize manufacturing operations
Develop, refine, and train standardized IE workflows, procedures, and tools
Provide high-quality decision support using discrete event simulation, linear programming, and other operations research
What You'll Bring
3+ years’ industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive industry preferred)
2+ years’ experience in work measurement, continuous improvement activities, and knowledge of lean production
Experience conducting detailed analysis to make data driven decisions on process layout design, production line design or warehouse design
Proficient in discrete event simulation software, such as FlexSim, Anylogic or Plant Simulation
Proficient in 2D/3D layout in AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks
Able to implement lean production methodologies in scale manufacturing, such 5S, Six Sigma, SMED, CI, Standardization, VSM (Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is a plus)
Proficient in work measurement tools with MTM, Modapts or MOST
Able to gain buy in from a diverse group of stakeholders. Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
