Job Description
The Senior Manager, Strategy, supports the definition and execution of Visa’s strategy across European wallets, account‑to‑account networks, and domestic schemes, with a strong focus on product, solution design, and client‑facing execution. This role bridges strategy and delivery, translating Visa’s strategy and client demands into concrete product and partnership solutions.
The individual works closely with Product and Technology teams, as well as cluster and country leadership, to shape solution architectures, adapt offerings to local market needs, and support go‑to‑market execution. The role requires both strategic thinking and hands‑on problem solving in a complex and evolving payments ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development
- Support the Senior Director Wallets and Domestic Scheme’s in shaping Visa’s regional strategic positioning for wallets, A2A networks, and domestic schemes from a market, regulatory, and product perspective.
- Conduct deep‑dive analyses on partnership models, co‑badge approaches, solution architectures, and operating model implications.
- Monitor ecosystem, regulatory, and competitive developments and translate insights into strategic and product recommendations.
Product & Solutions Design
- Work with wallet providers, schemes, and networks to define solution architectures and integration models.
- Partner with Product, Technology, and Client Services teams to tailor global solutions such as VisaPay, HCE enbablement, Visa Direct to local wallet requirements, balancing opportunity, risk, and scalability.
- Support definition of Visa‑as‑a‑Service approaches, including implications for product capabilities, rules, membership, pricing, and operations.
Execution & Client Engagement
- Drive execution of selected strategic initiatives together with cluster and country teams, ensuring consistency and speed across markets.
- Act as a point of contact for country managers on product and solution‑related topics linked to wallets, domestic schemes, and A2A networks.
- Support client and partner discussions by clearly articulating complex technical and business concepts in intuitive language.
This is a hybrid position, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the London, Paddington office.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive experience in strategy, product management, payments, financial services, or adjacent industries.
- Strong understanding of European payments ecosystems, including cards, wallets, A2A, and domestic schemes.
- Demonstrated experience working with product, technology, or solution architecture teams.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders across functions and geographies.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
Strategy, Communication & Customer‑Centric Mindset
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate strategy into tangible products and solutions.
- Client‑facing mindset with the ability to explain complex business and technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to identify client and ecosystem priorities, align them with Visa’s strategic objectives, and translate them into differentiated product and partnership solutions.
Product & Solutions Knowledge
- Knowledge of card transaction flows (Auth, Clear and Settle) and of Visa Token Solutions
- Support the definition of solution design, with the ability to assess tradeoffs across technology, regulation, operations, and commercial models.
- Capability to monitor and interpret regulatory and market developments and proactively incorporate implications into strategy, product design, and execution decisions.
- Ability to identify correct solutions across the Visa VAS suite and develop & design client propositions
