What You Will Be Doing

• Conducting focused 1:1 coaching sessions where you convert your competitive background into concrete, applicable strategies for student motivation
• Facilitating energizing morning assemblies that activate the entire student community
• Delivering interactive life skills workshops where you guide students hands-on through exercises in resilience, leadership, and goal achievement
• Directing structured athletic training sessions that embody championship principles: creating drills, demanding maximum effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through sport (far beyond simple supervision)
• Maintaining active engagement with all students throughout each day: moving through the space during independent study periods, stepping in with motivation when a student encounters difficulty, and seizing opportunities to spark breakthrough moments

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Observing from the sidelines in a symbolic capacity: this role demands active participation. You're present on the ground, leading sessions, engaging directly with students, and intervening as situations unfold.
• Delivering conventional academic instruction or adhering to a set curriculum: students use adaptive technology for subject learning. Your focus is on life coaching, motivational support, and developing transferable skills through athletics and mentorship.

Basic Requirements Sports Mentor key responsibilities

• We're looking for former elite-level competitors who have reached the pinnacle of their sport — Olympians, World Champions, professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
• Bachelor's degree in any subject
• Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
• Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
• Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
• Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX

Working with us This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $75 USD/hour, which equates to $150,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
