As a Life & Health R&D Intern, you will support investigations across a wide range of topics, from health forecasting and mortality research to cancer and cardiovascular trends, metabolic health, and emerging medical developments. New topics, such as exploring artificial intelligence in transforming diagnosis, risk assessment, clinical decision-making and population health outcomes, are at the forefront of our minds.
Previous intern projects include topics such as GLP-1 anti-obesity medications, mental health mortality, multi-cancer early detection, new Alzheimer's disease medications, COVID-19 developments and many more.
This position would suit a person who is looking to bring their knowledge of life and/or data science, analysis and current trends into a fast-paced business with a real-world impact. After analysing results, you would help us to communicate this to a wide range of audiences, both internally and externally. You would be expected to work independently as you draft text for publications or presentations, alongside producing graphics/graphs/visualisations. This is a 10-week paid position, based in London, starting 22nd June 2026. About The Team The Life Research and Forecasting team at Swiss Re is an international multidisciplinary research group across Europe and Asia, comprised of 5 post-PhD scientists (across medical and life sciences) and headed by an experienced pricing actuary.
We use our expert knowledge to consult on core trends in medicine, life sciences healthcare as they relate to mortality and morbidity insurance. We identify and analyse structured/unstructured datasets throughout the world that provide insights on health trends and developments. We establish effective partnerships and collaborations with universities, data providers and research organisations on a global basis.
