What You’ll Do
- Set the vision & roadmap for GPL’s events and sponsorships portfolio—owning strategy, tiering, calendar design, and a clear measurement framework tied to client engagement and commercial outcomes.
- Create a strong brand presence at conferences, industry forums, and owned experiences—elevating awareness and visibility of thought leadership, solutions, and client focus with executive decision-makers and influencers.
- Lead complex negotiations: structure sponsorship agreements, entitlements, and multi‑year event contracts; partner closely with Legal, Sourcing, Meetings & Events, and Finance to de‑risk commitments and secure best terms.
- Work with a sense of urgency and purpose: stand up agile planning, vendor management, run‑of‑show excellence, and standardized toolkits/playbooks for repeatable execution at scale.
- Leverage data for decisions: identify white space, audience concentration, and competitive presence; build a transparent dashboard for executive visibility and continual optimization.
- Drive cross-functional impact: partner with Sales, Product, Communications, and Wholesale Digital to connect event moments to storytelling, content, and commercial follow-through.
- Strategy & Execution: operationalize pre/during/post-event engagement—briefs, talk tracks, 1:1 meeting programming, lead capture, and post‑event insights-to-action.
- Team leadership: coach a high-trust, inclusive team (anticipated ~3 direct reports) and manage agencies/vendors to high standards, clear SLAs, and budget discipline.
- Collaborate across the enterprise to ensure alignment with brand standards, compliance requirements, and risk frameworks while maintaining speed and creativity.
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated ownership of an events/sponsorships portfolio with end-to-end responsibility—from strategy and budgeting to execution and post‑event optimization.
- Contracting and vendor management experience, including negotiating complex agreements and managing agencies.
- Proven ability to use data to prioritize and optimize a portfolio for industry visibility and business outcomes.
- Track record operating in dynamic, matrixed environments and collaborating across senior stakeholder groups.
- Ability to simplify, standardize, and scale without compromising quality.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Platforms, or Social Media experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications
- Payments, money movement, or treasury exposure (B2B or B2C)—or demonstrated ability to quickly learn technical product spaces.
- Experience in regulated or large enterprise environments.
- Expertise connecting event investments to upper‑funnel brand metrics and commercial follow‑through (e.g., pipeline influence via sales collaboration).
- Strong executive presence, communication, and storytelling skills.
Travel Requirements
This role will require periodic travel throughout the year, with
peak travel seasons occurring in Q2 and Q3 into Q4
, during which the leader should expect
significant event‑related travel
to support major conferences and strategic industry engagements.
When not traveling, this person will be expected to comply with in-office expectations.
