What To Expect The systems behind how Tesla plans, controls, and delivers capital projects are as critical as the projects themselves. You will define how Tesla's infrastructure projects run — change management, first-principles financial estimation and control, scheduling, self-perform labor productivity — and drive adoption across the organization. This is not a tool admin role. You define the workflows, embed with teams, and guide users to drive projects the Tesla way. The right person has shipped real projects, managed real spend, and immediately saw how to rebuild the whole process better from scratch. This position will require travel up to 30% of the time as it will be supporting most sites across Tesla.
What You'll Do
Define infrastructure project operations workflows from first principles — not imported from how other companies do it
Deploy internal execution systems across active capital projects: change management, financial controls, scheduling, scope management, labor productivity
Guide users across all levels to drive their projects using Tesla methods — make the system intuitive, not imposed
Turn complex project data into clear narratives that drive decisions on cost, schedule, safety, and quality
Establish standardized methods and KPIs that leadership and project teams can rally around
Operate as a forward-deployed team embedded with project teams — solving problems at the point of execution, not from a desk
Close process gaps with urgency — in the field, in the data, and at the table when it matters
What You'll Bring
9+ years delivering complex projects — you've personally owned scope, cost, and outcomes
First-principles command of project operations: earned value, change management, cost forecasting, CPM scheduling, productivity tracking, procurement, closeout
You've built or fundamentally redesigned a project management system or workflow — not just operated one
You can query data, spot the anomaly, and turn it into a story that drives action
You get skeptics on board without hand-holding
Technical fluency — comfortable with data platforms, BI tools, and complex system design
Bias toward action. You ship outcomes, not slide decks
