The NPI Operations Program Manager (OPM) role at Reality Labs offers in the Wearables Devices team, a unique and dynamic opportunity to be at the forefront of cutting-edge consumer electronics product development and mass production. This role is highly impactful, bridging core product teams with a broad spectrum of functional organizations, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance, as well as external suppliers. The OPM is a key driver in ensuring seamless execution of complex, high-priority initiatives that directly influence the success of innovative products in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
NPI Operations Program Manager Responsibilities:
- Manage cross-functional execution of advanced NPI and strategic initiatives for cutting-edge consumer electronic devices by integrating plans and communicating risks & status updates clearly and succinctly to management, calling out key issues and presenting options for resolutions to Reality Labs Leadership
- Establish and lead a system to intake and integrate Pre-Discovery phase of NPIs into the roadmap and represent the different teams on driving alignment from an Operations point of view
- Drive supplier strategy with cross functional partners to deliver proper allocation, integration, and potential ramp challenges based on the overall roadmap
- Execute development builds leading up to ramp, development of process qualifications plans, and defining capacity and Capex requirements, clearly identifying deliverables and dependencies
- Lead the tactical execution of go-to-market initiatives for our products by working closely with key cross-functional teams
- Bring a point of view to the team, informing and guiding decisions related to these initiatives
- Drive Operations team towards factory readiness with manufacturing partners to support MP (line layout, automation, capacity, CapEx)
- Work with Product Cost Engineers to track and drive product cost targets with manufacturing partners
- Act as the first Operations entry point for new Wearables initiatives during pre-discovery / pre-development phases
- Drive alignment on problem statement, scope boundaries, assumptions, milestones, and success metrics before plans are committed
- Define and align minimum operational requirements to proceed (e.g., manufacturability intent, test/manufacturing readiness expectations, quality gates, supply continuity considerations, CAPEX implications, tooling/data needs)
- Identify early risks and constraints (supplier capability, process maturity, capacity, cost) and drive mitigation plans and decisions
- Drive strategic initiatives that improve how Wearables NPIs is executed (standardization, operating cadence, readiness criteria, lessons-learned reuse)
- Align priorities and tradeoffs across programs to maximize portfolio outcomes (schedule, quality, cost, capacity)
- Create scalable playbooks and mechanisms that reduce duplicated work across teams
- Ensure internal tools/databases are the single source of truth for scope, schedules, decisions, dependencies, readiness status, and key manufacturing metrics
- Define data standards (taxonomy, owners, update SLAs) and enforce adoption so reporting is decision-grade and auditable
- Build dashboards/operating reviews that drive action, not just status
- Make AI the default approach to reduce operational toil and improve decision velocity and predictability across Wearables NPI execution
- Deploy/scale AI-enabled workflows such as: plan & status synthesis, meeting-to-actions, risk signal extraction, dependency mapping, change-log summarization—paired with traceability and quality controls
- Define success metrics (time saved, cycle-time reduction, milestone predictability, issue aging reduction) and drive adoption across teams
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or higher in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain/Operations discipline or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in operations program management, hardware NPI, manufacturing operations, or equivalent cross-functional execution roles
- Demonstrated success leading high-ambiguity, high-complexity hardware programs across multiple teams and external partners
- Broad factory/supplier engagement experience (FATP/JDM/ODM/CM environments) and fluency in manufacturing readiness and performance metrics
- Extensive data discipline and experience establishing a system-of-record and operating cadence
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills leveraging AI tools and techniques
- Knowledge of product features/specifications, manufacturing processes and the supply chain for consumer electronics products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree (e.g. MBA, Engineering, or other relevant field) with experience in management consulting, strategy, business operations, corporate strategy or similar discipline
- 12+ years' experience in an Operations-focused Program Management role for Consumer Electronics devices
- Experience leading development/delivery of multiple high-volume products
