The Implementation Analyst is responsible for supporting data migration and import workflows that enable seamless transitions of patient and clinical data across Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Working within athenahealth's Data Imports team, this role plays a critical part in ensuring that data from source EHR systems is accurately mapped, validated, transformed, and loaded into athenaOne. The Implementation Analyst manages a portfolio of import projects, collaborates with cross-functional teams and clients, and leverages tools such as Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and SQL to deliver high-quality data migration outcomes.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Managing end-to-end data import and migration projects, including data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading from source EHR systems into athenaOne.
- Analyzing and mapping source data fields to target EHR data structures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
- Using Microsoft Excel for data transformation, transformation templates, and pre-import quality checks.
- Leveraging SQL to query, validate, and reconcile data sets across source and destination systems.
- Tracking and managing project status, client communications, and issue resolution using Salesforce CRM.
- Communicating with clients, healthcare practices, and internal stakeholders to convey import project status, timelines, and data requirements.
- Managing a high volume of concurrent import projects and tasks with competing priorities.
- Identifying data quality issues, discrepancies, and gaps in source data; proposing and executing remediation strategies.
- Developing a thorough understanding of athenahealth's data models, import tools, and EHR workflows to effectively support complex migrations.
- Identifying operational inefficiencies in import workflows and contributing to the design of scalable solutions.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Client Services to resolve technical and functional challenges.
- Extracting, synthesizing, and analyzing data to support project decisions and reporting.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to data imports, including data mapping errors, format mismatches, and load failures, escalating when necessary.
- Supporting the training and mentoring of new team members on import processes and tools.
- Serving as a subject matter expert for data import best practices and process-related questions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Implementation Manager to help optimize and scale data import operations.
Requirements
- Graduate in engineering, science, or any related field.
- Fluency and comfort with both spoken and written English.
- Willingness to work in any shift, including IST Night shifts.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage members of geographically distributed teams across India and the US.
- Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in managing communication with external healthcare clients and partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data transformation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with SQL for querying, filtering, and validating large datasets is an added advantage.
- Experience using Salesforce or equivalent CRM tools for project tracking and client communication is an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to data accuracy and detail.
- Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving data quality issues and workflow inefficiencies.
- Ability to manage complex projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from discovery and data analysis through go-live and post-import validation.
- Ability to operate independently and execute goals, seeking assistance when needed.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Personal and professional drive to succeed, with a passion for continuous learning.
- Flexibility to adapt to change in a rapidly growing company.
- Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.
- 0-3 years of work experience in US healthcare, health IT, data migration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Implementation/ onboarding EHR systems, healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, or similar) is a plus.
