Accenture’s Global Energy Center of Excellence is a rapidly expanding practice focused on helping clients manage energy spend across a wide range of industries, from large national retailers to heavy industrial organizations. The Energy team partners closely with clients to define objectives and develop strategies to reduce costs, manage market risk, establish budgets, and track financial performance. Our sustainability offerings include emissions measurement, target setting, decarbonization roadmaps, implementation of sustainability initiatives, and emissions reporting.
You are: Consultants are central to delivering these client‑facing services, working under the guidance of experienced leaders. In this role, you will provide timely, data‑driven insights into natural gas and electricity markets to support risk management and procurement decisions. By combining rigorous quantitative analysis with clear, effective communication, you will translate complex market dynamics into actionable intelligence for both internal and external stakeholders.
The work:
Monitor energy market fundamentals, including forward prices, supply/demand balances, weather impacts, infrastructure constraints, fuel switching, and power generation dynamics
Track and interpret market pricing, volatility, and forward curves across regional and national markets
Create high-quality market publications, including daily/weekly market updates, monthly outlooks, special reports, and ad-hoc analyses translating complex market data into clear, concise, and actionable insights for non-technical audiences
Develop short-term and long-term market outlooks, scenarios, and price forecasts
Identify and assess market risks and opportunities related to price exposure, volatility, and market structure
Lead or participate in client market calls, briefings, and presentations communicating market movements, risks, and strategic implications in a clear and confident manner
Build trusted-advisor relationships through consistent, high-value market insights and respond to client inquiries with timely, well-supported analysis
Hold ongoing internal client management update calls to establish regular communication cadence, including current market conditions and how those conditions are affecting current recommendations and strategies
Develop and maintain quantitative models to analyze energy price behavior, volatility, correlations, and market risk including performing statistical analysis on historical and forward price data to identify trends, anomalies, and structural changes
Apply probability-based techniques to assess price distributions and downside/upside risk utilizing various simulation tools to model energy price uncertainty and potential outcomes utilizing simulation results to support hedging decisions, procurement timing, and risk assessment
Lead/support cross-functional, project-based initiatives focused on energy market analysis, including data collection, modeling, analysis, and final presentation
Here’s what you need:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the Energy industry
Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years) work experience. (If associate degree, must have a minimum of 6 years’ work experience)
Bonus Points If:
Ability to effectively take on multiple projects, tasks, and initiatives simultaneously. Deadline driven.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience with Microsoft Office products, including the ability to develop and interpret complex models and ad-hoc reports.
Prior experience in driving insights using visualization tools (i.e., Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx) and analytics tools (i.e., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics)
Experience supporting client management and/or procurement activities
Knowledge of regional power and natural gas markets
Proven analytical and quantitative skills, including experience with market data and forecasting
Demonstrated abilities in problem solving and independent decision-making capabilities
Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
