What To Expect We are seeking a Data Collection Equipment Technical Project Manager to oversee the operations, maintenance, calibration, and deployment of our data collection equipment. Equipment is used by human operators to capture high-fidelity demonstration data for training Optimus. Role ensures the fleet remains reliable, calibrated, and ready for high-volume data collection sessions across labs, warehouses, outdoor sites, and simulated environments.
What You'll Do
Coordinate daily/weekly scheduling of packs for data collection shifts, ensuring availability matches project demands
Perform or oversee routine maintenance, including sensor calibration, battery management, firmware updates, and minor repairs
Troubleshoot hardware/software issues such as sensor drift, data sync problems, connectivity failures (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth), or wear-and-tear on straps, cabling, and embedded IMUs. Escalate complex repairs to vendors or engineering teams
Verify data completeness, synchronization, and fidelity after each session; flag and re-collect sessions with corrupted or low-quality data
Maintain detailed records of pack performance metrics, maintenance history, usage logs, calibration certificates, and incident reports
Analyze fleet performance trends and recommend upgrades, process improvements, or new pack acquisitions to support scaling data collection efforts
Manage logistics for multi-site or mobile operations, including transport, setup/teardown of supporting equipment
What You'll Bring
3+ years of experience managing fleets of wearable technology, motion capture systems, sensor equipment, drones, or similar technical assets in a high-usage environment
Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing issues in real-time during live collection sessions
Experience training non-technical users (e.g., operators or demonstrators) on equipment usage and best practices
Excellent organizational and documentation skills; proficiency with inventory/fleet management tools, spreadsheets, or custom dashboards
Comfort working in dynamic settings (lab, field, warehouse) with varied physical demands
Direct experience with humanoid robotics data pipelines, imitation learning datasets, or motion capture for AI training (e.g., full-body suits, smart gloves, force-sensing wearables)
Knowledge of relevant hardware (IMUs, force sensors, textile suits) and software

Expected Compensation
$96,800 - $217,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
