Your expertise in structured literacy allows you to identify a student's miscue and pinpoint the exact phonemic gap requiring attention. Yet you've likely observed how traditional systems underutilize that skill: classrooms with 25 or more students, inflexible pacing guides, and standardized curricula that disregard what your running records reveal. If you've ever considered, "I could accelerate these students' progress significantly if I could teach according to what the data indicates," this opportunity merits your attention.
Alpha School's 2-Hour Learning approach integrates AI-adaptive software with skilled human instruction. Students progress through academic content independently using personalized applications. There are no lectures, textbooks, or mandated pacing guides. Your responsibility centers on the area where human expertise is essential: small-group reading workshops in which you create and deliver structured literacy instruction matched to each student's phonics and decoding proficiency. You'll utilize real-time, AI-generated performance data to plan sessions, make in-the-moment adjustments, and track outcomes through fluency gains, accuracy improvements, and decoding progress.
In addition to reading workshops, you'll facilitate motivation sessions designed to keep K-2 students engaged with their learning objectives. You'll serve as their coach and advocate—the person who knows their name, interests, and precise position in their reading development. The goal: 100% of students achieve their weekly targets, and 90%+ rate their Guide as someone they genuinely enjoy working with. This role prioritizes measurable results you can observe weekly, not simply content coverage. As Alpha opens new campuses, the instructional model you develop here will shape reading instruction across the network.
If you're convinced that structured literacy achieves optimal results when it's personalized, data-informed, and delivered by someone who authentically energizes a room full of young learners, this position aligns with that conviction. Apply today.
