Do you understand that authentic learning begins with joy, movement, and trust?
Alpha School is redefining education by enabling children to advance academically at pace while dedicating more time to developing essential life competencies. For Pre-K learners, this foundation begins with something even more essential: emotional security, curiosity, and the resilience to engage.
Your role: guide an on-site NYC Pre-K classroom that cultivates a love for learning while delivering accelerated early developmental outcomes—approximately 2x the progress seen in conventional preschool settings. You will create purposeful, sensory-enriched play experiences aligned with developmental milestones, track growth weekly, and adapt instruction rapidly for individual learners.
NYC offers: parks for experiential outdoor education, culturally rich neighborhoods with engaged family networks, best-in-class public transportation, and proximity to leading early childhood professional communities.
Create joy. Accelerate development. Apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Plan and lead play-based learning sessions lasting 30–60 minutes that foster joy, emotional security, and quantifiable developmental progress
- Build a classroom environment rich in movement and sensory opportunities that sustains high engagement and supports four-year-olds learning through varied modalities
- Conduct real-time observation and documentation: Record same-day, objective developmental notes aligned with key domains, and refresh each child's milestone tracker on a weekly basis
- Leverage data to inform teaching: Review weekly documentation to pinpoint each child's next developmental opportunity and design responsive instructional strategies
- Develop personalized, interest-driven activity modifications for individual children, embedding one targeted developmental objective, and reassess outcomes within a two-week cycle
- Support children navigating frustration through calm co-regulation and structured emotional coaching instead of reactive behavior management
- Share student progress, classroom routines, and developing concerns with families in a clear, proactive manner
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Approach Pre-K as custodial care instead of purposeful early education
- Default to scripted worksheets or compliance-focused teaching methods
- Spend most of your time supervising digital apps rather than facilitating live, experiential learning
- Apply reactive behavior management techniques instead of calm co-regulation and emotional coaching
